Shilo Sanders isn’t the one to sit back and whine about his NFL combine fate. Come on, after all, he carries those supreme Deion Sanders genes. The boy is adept at initiating opportunities for himself in the most convenient manner. No, the reality hasn’t changed. Shilo still doesn’t have an invite for the combine. Nothing of that sort has happened. But Shilo somehow managed to get the same facility from the same people from the NFL combine to make sure he doesn’t miss out on anything.

The Deion Sanders sons’ saga has always been an uneven fairytale. While Shedeur Sanders is awaiting his highly touted top pick in the draft after capping off the Colorado season with a banger, Shilo remained under the shadow. Thanks to his tumultuous season marred by a series of injuries and poor performances. Consequently, the NFL scouts didn’t count him on the elite list, who were called forth to showcase their excellence more minutely in front of 32 NFL teams and enhance their chance to be drafted as early as possible.

But just remember the last name Shilo holds. Yes, Sanders’ team brought some notable people from the National League combine and some of the unique timing tools that the combine players only get access to. The goal is clear. It is to let Shilo go through all the tests that the combine guys are facing. “I ain’t get invited to the Combine, so they brought the Combine to me,” Sanders said. “This is our big sport. They’re the exact same timers they use at the NFL Combine. … They didn’t invite me to the Combine, so they just brought the Combine to me.”

It’s true that not getting an NFL invite is a significant step back in any athlete’s career path, but it’s not the end of the world, especially when you have such a support system to back you up tirelessly. The path ahead is tough yet fascinating for Shilo, as it can very well help him get rid of the most proverbial dogma: the Deion Sander’s son syndrome.
