If anyone asks you how was Texas before Steve Sarkisian took over, what would you say? Was it appalling? Or was it downright un-Texan-like? Well, whatever may be your verdict, recruiting is something that has surely taken an upward trend under Steve Sarkisian. Don’t believe it? Well, just look at their 2021 class which is ranked 14th nationally and you will know. Steve Sarkisian took the program and produced a 5th-ranked class nationally in 2022, 3rd ranked in 2023 and 1st ranked in 2025. All in all it looks like Steve Sarkisian has undoubtedly mastered the recruiting game at Texas.
Similarly, in his 2026 class, the man has roped in some top prospects like 5-star QB Dia Bell and 2 other 4-star players Chris Stewart (WR) and Max Wright (OT). That being said, the class is currently lacking players and Sarkisian still has a long road to travel for his 2026 class. He is presently after several high-profile players like Jayquan Snell (Safety), Havey Finney Jr. (CB), and Chace Calicut (DB). However, there is one prospect who tops the list and it seems he is having a tough battle out there.
Yes, we are talking about the 4 Star rated prospect Ethan Boobie Feaster who is ranked 4th nationally in his wide receiver position. The player currently has offers from virtually every program ranging from LSU, Texas A&M, Texas, and Oregon. Steve Sarkisian hosted the prospect earlier in October 2024 and was looking to lean toward luring him to his camp as Feaster had made 3 visits in total. The high chance was also attributed to Texas because Feaster played football there for his High School in Desoto. However, his recent visit to LSU could change all that.
Josh Newberg of On3 and Shea Dixon an LSU insider were talking about Feaster’s LSU visit and what it could mean for his commitment. “I mean he’s a Louisiana native he was wearing his 318 area code necklace on his visit when I bumped into him, he came in watched the whole practice, and then did the battle in New Orleans which a lot of guys were able to make their way to LSU this weekend before doing seven on seven stuff which was split between what Dallas and New Orleans so getting him in on the campus when he’s already got a weekend like that is key“.

The development is also crucial because according to Dixon Feaster’s native family lives in Louisiana and his desire to stay close to them may convince him to commit for LSU. Furthermore, LSU’s 2026 class also looks quite star-studded with 6 commits and a 3rd national ranking. He already has top wide receivers in Jakai Anderson (4 stars) and Kenny Darby (4 stars) who is ranked 24th nationally in his position. Ethan Feaster if commits to the class will be the main man in an already well-oiled freshman receiver department of the 2026 class at LSU. However, there’s still a question as to what the guy will provide.
Ethan Feaster’s rise to prominence
Well, first and foremost for the less versed, the player was initially a prospect of the 2027 class and was ranked the number 1 recruit in that. However, in a shocking move, the player reclassified himself in the 2026 class and looked for the challenge earlier than anticipated. He even provided the example of Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams who reclassified to the 2024 class and lit the fields, garnering 865 receiving yards and scoring 8 TDs. “I saw Ryan Williams do it. That was the biggest thing. I felt like I could do it. I felt like I was ready for college“.
But, now when he is in the 2026 class he is still rated as five star (by Rivals) and has got a 3rd rank in his state of Texas overall. Standing at 6 foot 2 and weighing around 180 lbs his athleticism and speed are something to watch out for. Even in his earlier visit to LSU’s camp, he evaded defenders like playing in his backyard and his ball-tracking skills were just unworldly. Then in 2024 he was named MaxPreps Sophomore All-American and had 824 yards for 57 receptions, scoring 13 touchdowns. So, when you have these top-class abilities and deliver such performances teams will ultimately be after you aggressively.
Meanwhile, Feaster is enjoying the attention he is getting. In his words, he just wants to take care of his family. “ I can take care of my family earlier. So NIL is going to be a factor”. If family proximity is taken into account then LSU still has the edge however the competition is expected to go till the last wire as no college will back down in its recruiting and will be coming all in.
