Before taking his first step to fulfill his lifelong dream of unifying the title, Jaron Ennis will indeed pause to face his reflection. This time, the mirror will no longer show a man settled in his position. Rather it will show a changed man, desperate to rewrite his story. It is his time to prove to the world that he is not a paper champion, rather he deserves everything coming towards him.

In the last few weeks, Boots has shown an unmatchable confidence in press conferences and talk shows. This newfound confidence is refreshing given how talented he was. There is just a single question: Is this newfound confidence coming from his own hard work and grit? Or is there someone behind him as his pillar of support? Let’s take a look.

All we know about Jaron Ennis’ wife and kids

Sadly, this is where things get rather tough. There is no legitimate source confirming the marital or relationship status of Jaron Ennis. While most of the sources have claimed that the Philadelphia native is single, a few sources have reported that he is married to his wife, Kellie. However, there is no public information available related to Kellie, and it remains unconfirmed.

The IBF welterweight champion has often kept his private life under wraps. He rarely discusses his family in public interviews and only keeps his professional boxing career in the limelight. For him, his career takes the utmost importance. He has often described his routine as: “I just stay focused, stay in the gym, stay ready. Everything else will fall into place.”

However, Ennis couldn’t have claimed the top of the welterweight division alone. It was not just his grind that got him here. But his family was always behind him, dealing with his gritty and stubbornness.

Jaron Ennis’ early life and background

Jaron Ennis, born on June 26, 1997, in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, grew up in a family deeply rooted in boxing. His father, Derek “Bozy” Ennis, introduced him to the sport at a very young age. Ennis Sr., regarded as one of the best coaches in Philadelphia, turned his gym Next Champ Gym on 1082 Grant Avenue in Northeast Philly into his second home. That is why it was fitting that he got his moniker ‘Boots’ there.

However, rather than coach, Bozy sees himself as a ‘Teacher,’ shaping not only fighters but survivors. And he drilled that philosophy deep into all three of his sons. Boots often attributes his work ethic and resilience to the lessons from his father from a young age. “My pop instilled in me that hard work and dedication from a baby since I was maybe like two or three,” he stated before signing a deal with Matchroom.

He started his amateur career at the age of 14, under the guidance of his father, and immediately started dominating it. He won the U.S. National Golden Gloves Championships in 2015, followed by the USA Youth National Champion in the lightweight category. Just a year later, he made his professional debut and the rest of his history.

Jaron Ennis’ journey is stitched together by a father’s dream, Philly’s undying soul, and a drive to be the greatest. Now, as he steps up to his next big test, Bozy and the entire city stand in his corner, ready to lift him up and keep him swinging.
